Sukanya Krishnan was born in Madras, India, a city now known as Chennai. The television host grew up in Staten Island, N.Y. and attended New Dorp High School alongside Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man.

After high school, Sukanya continued her education at Dickinson College, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. Always known for achieving her goals, Sukanya graduated as president of her senior class.

The six-time Emmy-Award-winning news anchor got her start in broadcasting in 1994, when she landed an internship at WLIG-TV. At the Long Island news station, Sukanya tried her hand at live reporting, writing, shooting, and editing news stories.

After many years of hard work, Sukanya became the first Indian-American woman to work for a local network affiliate in the New York’s demanding market.

What’s a “mental narrative”? It’s nothing more than a personal story taking place in your head that keeps you locked in a space that makes you feel like a victim. It’s exhausting. It makes you feel like you’re not enough. And it fills you with the fears, doubts, and anxieties that make getting everything you want so much harder than it needs to be. What’s worse is that instead of doing anything, most of us sit back and let this negative narrative take over our lives and its stops us from living. I know this because I was stuck in this pattern for years. Today, I was going to the city for an interview and my emotions were getting the best of me. That same self talk and self doubt started creeping into my head. BUT this time I was aware that this narrative which had controlled me for years served no purpose in my life anymore . And this time I knew exactly how to take control of old triggers and cycles. What I did was stop and breath. That allowed me to move into this interview with a clear head and also a belief that my new life with new possibilities are just around the corner. #anythingispossible #conciousliving #positivevibesonly💯
